Michael Moehle joined Cheiron in July 2011. He has over 30 years experience as an actuarial retirement consultant, performing actuarial and related consulting work for California and Western US public sector and corporate pension funds. At Cheiron he will serve as a special resource for internal audit/reviews of all public sector pension work in the firm. In that role he will conduct independent validation of liability and asset valuation results. He will also review valuation assumptions and methods for compliance with applicable actuarial and GASB standards.
Mike has most recently been the Retirement Investment Officer and In-House Actuary and Consultant for the City of San Jose Retirement Services, San Jose, CA. Before joining the City of San Jose, he was Principal and Senior Consultant with a large national benefits consulting firm where he served as consultant with several California 1937 Act County Retirement Systems and multiple statewide public employees retirement systems in Nevada, North Dakota, Minnesota and Washington where he provided funding valuations and GASB 25, 27, 43 and 45 valuations and disclosures, as well as analysis and consulting regarding plan changes and plan alternatives.
Mike has also served numerous corporate clients providing actuarial funding valuations, FAS 87, 106, 132 and 158 valuations and disclosures; asset/liability projections, analysis and presentations; consulting and related actuarial analysis regarding plan design changes; annual government filings, IRS determination letter applications, non-discrimination testing under IRC 401(a)(4); SPD rewrites, and plan document reviews.
Mike is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries, a Fellow of the Conference of Consulting Actuaries, an Enrolled Actuary under ERISA, and a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries. He graduated with a B.S. degree from Southern Illinois University with a double major in Mathematics and Economics.
